Harnessing the potential of digital tools to strengthen youth participation in EU democratic life
The Council of Europe states that participation of any community in the democratic life is about more than voting or standing for election. “Participation and active citizenship is about having the right, the means, the space and the opportunity and where necessary the support to participate in and influence decisions and engaging in actions and activities so as to contribute to building a better society.”
To foster young people’s participation in the democratic life is to empower them and provide them the means and ways to become actors of their life and of their world.
#YouEU is a European project aiming to reinvigorate the relationship of European youth with the EU and promote active youth participation in the EU democratic life, by harnessing the potential of digital tools and promoting e-participation.
